Martha Marciel Recognized for Excellence in Social Work

Congratulations to this month’s Employee Spotlight Award recipient, home health social worker Martha Marciel!
“Martha is amazing at her job,” says supervisor Dawna Stowe, RN. “She is compassionate and caring, and provides the highest quality of care to her clients.”
As a medical social worker, Martha conducts home visits with clients who have a disability or acute health condition and are also struggling with their finances, housing, substance abuse issues, and emotional wellbeing. She supports them emotionally, helps them access services and benefit programs, and assists them and their families with planning for their care needs.
“I most enjoy witnessing the breadth of life experiences my clients share with me,” Martha said. “I work with adults of all ages, socioeconomic levels, physical abilities, histories and personalities. I feel honored on a daily basis when clients invite me into their homes and share personal and sensitive information with me.”
The job is ever changing, she added, and she is grateful that it gives her perspective and serves as a way for her to give back to humankind on a daily basis.
Receiving this award, she says, affirms the work she does is meaningful to both her clients and team members. “As a social worker, I work with many challenging, sad and traumatic situations. This can be disheartening at times and receiving this award was a bright spot in my week!” she said.
We’d also like to extend congratulations to this month’s honorary mentions: AP Care Specialist at Anderson Parkway Amber Sanderson and Hospice and Palliative Patient Care Coordinator Lila Fuller, RN. HR Generalist Lisa Barron and team assistants Christina Barron and Rebecca Isham also receive honorable mentions for filling in as our cleaning crew as the facilities department worked to contract a vendor. Thank you all for your hard work!
