Our administrative business hours are Monday – Friday, from 8 am – 5 pm, except on holidays.
We provide 24-hour, on-call service 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When you call on weekends or after hours, you will reach our answering service. Please leave a detailed message and a University of Vermont Health Network – Home Health & Hospice team member will return your call. In the case of a lifethreatening emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
If your call is about a medical concern, a nurse will return your call. The nurse will determine if the issue can be resolved by telephone, requires an after-hours home visit, or requires assessment and treatment by your provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant). If you have not heard from someone within 20 minutes of your call, please call back.
Please note: Our nurses do not carry medications and cannot give medication unless it is ordered by a patient’s provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant). Medical supplies and equipment are not usually delivered after hours. In order to receive care from our organization, patients are required to have a back-up plan for care with an identified caregiver who is trained in their care needs.
