Caring for a family member or a loved one can be challenging. As a family caregiver, you may experience increased stress and often feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities. Your UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice offers education and support designed to help you become more comfortable in your role as a family caregiver.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a national evidence-based education program taught in more than 30 states. Caregivers who have already completed the class agree that they have improved self-care behaviors, better manage their emotions, and use community resources more effectively.
The “tools” benefit caregivers by helping to:
- Reduce stress
- Improve caregiving confidence
- Balance your life
- Better communicate your feelings
- Increase ability to make tough decisions
- Locate helpful resources
Class Leaders:
Classes are led by UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice staff certified as Powerful Tools for Caregivers class leaders. Your UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice class leader also brings with them their experience and expertise in caring for persons in the home.
