Living with or caring for persons with memory loss can be especially difficult. It can affect you physically, emotionally, and financially. UVM Health Network Home Health & Hospice’s Memory Care Day Program specializes in caring for persons with memory loss.
Our program is modeled after our successful adult day program that provides social activities, healthy meals, and opportunities to meet new friends in a safe and homelike environment with nursing oversight.
Services and Activities at our Memory Care Day Program
Activities and the environment are customized in our program for the needs of persons with memory impairment. Contrasting colors on the walls and floors, bright open spaces, and multi-course meals are all part of a specially designed therapeutic environment that supports the need for independence and meaningful activity.
TimeSlips™ is one of the unique activities offered at our program. Participants are asked open-ended questions about a photograph and no answer is incorrect. Every response is recorded and compiled into a story that is read back to them. The activity encourages participants to speak up and express themselves without the worry of remembering.
TimeSlips™ is a nationwide program that was created in 1996. To learn more about this program, visit www.timeslips.org.
