ADP Sites Host Mock Royal Weddings

Last weekend wasn’t just special for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Dutchess of Sussex, who married on Saturday, May 19; it was also a time of joy for participants at UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice Adult Day Programs.

Wedding bells rang in Colchester, Essex and South Burlington last Friday as the programs hosted mock royal weddings. In Colchester, clients Sandy and James shared comical vows, swapped rings and excitedly threw the bouquet and garter to guests.

The duo then cut the wedding cake, which a personal care attendant’s family member made special for the day’s festivities. The best man, Peanut, shared a toast before seltzer-filled glasses clinked in celebration.

In South Burlington, clients enjoyed in-the-moment wedding activities. They colored wedding-themed pictures, posed for photos together and shared an intricately designed cake.

At the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice’s Essex site, participants worked together to bake a wedding cake for the reception, craft decorations and watch 98-year-old, London-born client Eileen Reed “wed” Ryan Karnes, her favorite personal care attendant.

“I feel very fortunate,” Reed said before blowing a kiss to her new spouse. “Life is good.”

Reed married her actual husband over 50 years ago during a time of war, which restricted her to wear a pantsuit to her ceremony.

Last Friday, Reed donned an elegant, floor-length wedding gown for the first time.

“I feel like I’m 21 again,” she said, smiling wide.
