Your generosity in this ‘new normal’ keeps our spirits high

Since the earliest days of this pandemic, you’ve been showing up for us in profound and remarkable ways — in caring messages of support, in lovingly handmade and donated masks and other personal protective equipment, and through your incredibly generous financial gifts. Each continues helping us meet the challenges of COVID-19. Through it all, your support has buoyed our spirits, kept us safe, and kept us moving forward, delivering the crucial care our clients need, wherever they call home. This is possible because of YOU.

Our response to COVID remains a community-wide effort, and several partners distinguished themselves through proactive support and foresight before the crisis fully revealed itself. They include our friends at The Vermont Community Foundation (VCF), who reached out in early March to gauge our anticipated needs. A $10,000 grant from VCF and its dedicated contributors funded early purchases of essential masks, gowns, goggles and gloves, allowing us to respond to care needs while keeping our staff, clients and communities safe.

Generosity from so many

We’re also fortunate to be among the organizations receiving United Way of Northwest Vermont support. We tip our hats to United Way, and to all who support it, for helping us continue serving our communities at such a crucial time. Gifts arrived through the COVID-19 United Response Fund, established March 19 to rapidly mobilize community resources. Find United Way’s full list of grantees here.

Similarly, the Hoehl Family Foundation granted us $25,000 to respond to this crisis. Indeed, the gift exemplified the late Cynthia and Robert Hoehl’s goals of promoting self-sufficiency and increasing Vermonters’ quality of life. We’re deeply grateful for the family’s support and belief in us at such a critical time for our community.

Last but by no means least, remarkably generous support from so many individual members of our community — 400 of you! — permitted us to continue our important work uninterrupted, despite rapidly changing expert guidance, best practices and protocols. Your gifts totaled an awe-inspiring $260,917 and continue helping us stay the course as we navigate this new normal.

Whatever form your support has taken, please know we couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you for your role, especially these past five months, in making our work possible, keeping our spirits high, and protecting our community. You continue to demonstrate that COVID is no match for us when we all work together.
