UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice Announces New V.P. of Development & Community Relations

Colchester, Vermont – The UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties (VNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ellen Kane as Vice President of Development and Community Relations for Vermont’s oldest and largest home health and hospice agency.

Kane comes to the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice with 17 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, communications and grant management. Former V.P. Ann Irwin continues to be an integral part of fundraising at the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice as the newly appointed Director of Special Campaigns.

Kane most recently served as president and CEO of Fanny Allen Corporation, where she was responsible for allocating grants to Vermont nonprofits as well as fundraising for Covenant Health network.

“I’m excited to join the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice, where I can use my experience and passion to support a health care model that puts patients first,” said Kane. “Directing a local foundation has allowed me to realize the importance of collaboration and I look forward to strengthening the many community connections the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice already has and reaching out to new partners to help advance our mission.”

Previously, Kane worked as a development consultant for the Vermont Principals’ Association and was director of development at the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) from 2005-2008. Kane serves on several nonprofit boards with a mission to serve seniors and the economically disadvantaged, including the United Way of Chittenden County, Special Services Transportation Agency and Opportunities Credit Union. She also provided consultation for Vermont Birth to Three, an initiative that aims to improve early education and care for infants and toddlers in Vermont.

Kane lives with her husband and two sons in Richmond, where she serves on the Town of Richmond Selectboard. Kane earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University of Chicago and her master’s in secondary education from Columbia College.
